No Plans for this Weekend, Midway Manor? Visit the Winter Wildlife Festival to Celebrate the Winter Season!
January 29, 2016
Instead of huddling up inside at Midway Manor until spring rolls around, get outside and see all that Virginia Beach has to offer in the wintertime at the Winter Wildlife Festival. This annual event is held at the Princess Anne Recreation Center for one weekend at the end of January, and it gives nature-loving residents a chance to see how the area wildlife manages during the colder months.
At the Winter Wildlife Festival, visitors can follow fascinating bird activity to see how it changes during the winter season before venturing out to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to observe the behavior of harbor seals. Knowledgeable guides from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and other nature organizations lead each excursion, and there are even keynote speeches from many of these naturalists. Before you leave, be sure to stop in to the exhibition hall to check out exhibits from the Virginia Aquarium, Virginia Beach Audubon Society and other organizations, or even bring the kids to take part in fun activities at the nearby Princess Anne Library.
